Hannah and Dan are big time animal lovers and couldn’t think of a better place to get married than Marwell Zoo Hotel. Hannah said ” Thanks for coming and taking such wonderful photos! Oh wow, thanks so much for them all and the extras! We’ve had so many compliments about you from our guests, you were a hit!! The woodland ones came out lovely, and the pom poms too!! So many gorgeous ones. It will be soooo hard to pick our favourites for the album”.Dan said “Thanks to everyone that came to our special day on the 7th! We have got our photos back from Liza O’Malley Photography and they are bloody incredible! Liza has done a fantastic job and we are both very proud to be able to share her work with you all!”
When Hannah and Dan first got in touch with me about their Marwell Zoo Hotel wedding in Hampshire, I was so excited – they were planning an incredible zoo inspired and woodland wedding with their own furbaby Marvin making a guest appearance for photos. The Marwell Zoo Hotel is an awesome place set amongst trees and woodland and just opposite the zoo (just close enough to hear the animals!) Set amongst 140 acres the Zoo park is home to over 170 exotic and endangered species in beautiful landscaped surrounds. You could almost imagine being amongst the tree tops of an African Rainforest or in safari lodge.
Hannah and Dan are the sweetest people on earth and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
The excitement before the wedding
I started shooting at the Marwell Hotel, where the couple and their families were getting ready. Hannah wore a gorgeous dress and Dan was cursing himself for chosing a full wool suit (which I loved by the way) as the day turned out to be a scorcher one of the hottest days of summer to date! But they both looked absolutely gorgeous. Dan and Hannah had made it super easy for themselves by getting ready at the hotel with their family and friends.(Marvin was to arrive a little later on with the dog walker!).
The wedding took place in the beautiful high ceiling room, which had been lovingly decorated with photos of Hannah and Dan from their travels and time together as a couple and some stunning colours and hanging canopes . After the lovely ceremony their guests had great fun with the pom pom confetti under the trees and then it was time for the couple and their bridal party to go for a little wander off into the woods (and the shade) for their portraits!
Being such a hot day (30 degrees plus!) the guests were keen to take on board some welcome liquid refreshments whilst the couple and I wrapped up their portraits. My favourite photo from the afternoon is just as the late afternoon sun was hitting the trees and creating such great light as Hannah and Dan walked hand and hand through the woods.
The 7th July (the date for Hannah and Dan’s wedding) also happened to coincide with another important event – England were playing Sweden in the Quarter Finals of the World Cup! Dan being a passionate England supporter had rigged up a supersize screen to show the footie and his guests were not to be disappointed with a storming 2-0 win to England! This just added to the excitement of the day. What a great day, two very much in love, gorgeous people and England were through to the semis!!
